Hi Everyone, Thank you for your help. I have checked 10 years, 1881-1891 under Dobbins - nothing, but only 8 years of Gibson, the 2 boys are now 5 and 3, would she bother to marry, plus it was getting very late and could not see straight. Mary

My Great Great Gran married for a second time using her first married name however my great gran also married for the second time and used her maiden name but described herself as widow. I think it was done on purpose to confuse me...

On my searches a remarried woman has the married name in the records with the note, formerly .............. showing her maiden name.

If you found Sarah in 1891 and if it is the right death of Henry GIBSON, it is possible that James brought the children with him to the marriage and they were not Sarah's. They may however not be married then but much later, if at all.

Her second marriage would be under the name of Gibson. where have you tried in your search to find it?

Sarah would probably have married in the name GIBSON, her married name. I know my cousin reverted to marry in her maiden name when she remarried though.

I'm trying to find my ggrandmother's 2nd marriage. Born - DOBBINS,Sarah - 1845 - Whitehaven 1st Mar - GIBSON,Henry - 1866 - Whitehaven Death - GIBSON,Henry - 1891 Easington 2nd Mar KENNEDY,James - ? I found Sarah/James on the 1891 census with two extra boys. I have checked this info and they are mine. Would the 2nd marriage be registered under Sarah's maiden (Dobbins) or married (Gibson) name? I'm begining to think that perhaps she did not get married. Any help or idea's please, thank you. Mary
