How about an Ancestry subscription instead. You could have a quarterley one or and annual one. Depending what type of cd you were after the cost wouldn't be much different. You have access to many census and other records. Diane

Theresa What is the paracensus of Australia? What time scale does it cover and where would I find it? (You've got me all excited now as have mislaid relatives in Victoria - oh how careless of me - or them!) Tina

I know what you mean Elaine, most of the census cds are just images which we have to trawl through and get squiffy eyes. What you really need is a census of your area of research that has an index of names. Gordon Beavington does a good range of 1851 and 1891, he is in Canada but does have an agent on ebay. You need to read the description though, as even some of his are scanned images only. http://www(.)mycensuses(.)com/

last christmas my husband bought me the 1891 census for christmas. I am obviously doing something wrong because whenever I need something from there I have to post a request here. I have to trawl through hundreds of pages in the remote chance of finding someone. Any ideas on what would be a valuable cd for this christmas, one that I can actually use! elaine:))
