In my parish records, there is very little info. On census records for a village, addresses arent usually given for a small settlement - all mine just say "cottage".

Parish registers would give exactly the same. If you were lucky you might find that the banns register has survived and you get snippets there sometimes. It is common (and maddening) that the name of the village is all you get sometimes, especially on early certificates. It is worth looking at the witness names. They often link into the family but could also be friends of bride or groom, or just the parish clerk.

I have receved some marriage certs would the written parish records be able to tell me more than what is on the cert its self I am only asking this question because i am a total novice and would like to find out more i have not yet been able to check out the parish records for marriages , The marriage certs do not give much info only names of groom and bride ages and witnesses names occupation of groom and no address only name of villiage lived in . thank you
