Found part of family on 1891 census no trace in 1901 completely vanished, if emigrated how can I find this out? Thanks Catherine |

I got lucky and found mine in Sydney. New South Wales has a free online index of deaths up to 1945. Google for NSW BDM |

They may not have vanished, they may have been mistranscribed. My Smoothy family turned out to be Lenorthey on the census and I found them by searching on christian names plus place and date of birth. (Luckily as you have them on a previous census you have these details). My grandfather Jeuel was misrecorded as Denel and as he had a common surname Gray, I put in for all Grays born Limpenhoe. One was missing, because his place of birth, when I finally tracked him down, was given as Limperhal. Found him by doing a search for Lim*. nell |
