I am having problems tracing ancestors on the 1901 census, is it possible that the men could have been away during the Boar War and if so, is there anyway of tracing them on line?

And Tracie, you'll need to spell it with an E not an A if you're googling. (I believe it comes from a Dutch-based word to do with farmers.) Otherwise you'll be getting the wild pig instead of the war. Christine sorry - missed out the ;-)

Thanks everyone - have corrected BOER!!! :-)) I have checked 'KevinAsplin' site and there were PIKE's there but it looks like it only deals with a couple of regiments - unless that is all that went there - will have to investigate more, but this may be where the missing relatives are - well the men at least.
