The quality of bts varies hugely. The are usually on sheets for each parish, which can get mislaid. Some record offices have sorted them by parish, others by year. Events may appear in bts which are not in the registers, but the reverse is also true. Often, the entries are much briefer than in the original register. Where you can, it is sensible to check both. Hi Marcie The Bishops Transcripts have births, deaths and marriages. The ones at my local records office are on microfilm and are photos of the originals, so the handwriting isn't always all that good and some are a bit faded. Definitley worth a look though as they may turn out to be better than the PRs. Jeanette x |

hi please can anyone tell me if bishops transcripts hold only marriages or do they have births also, i looked in milton keynes library yesterday for a look up and just could,t read the fishe, now wonder if the bishops transcripts would have given me another option many thanks marcie x |
