Thanks Christine, I hadn't thought of her being registered as Annie and then baptised Annie Florence. That would make sense. Many thanks everyone for your input, I think I can safely assume it's her now! Mandy :)

Just a couple of thoughts... I've found that people often put only their mainly-used name into the censuses. It's possible that she was registered with one name but baptised with two. Her parents could have gone back to register the extra name as an amendment (last column), but presumably chose not to - if that's what happened. Christine

Anne

If everything else matches I wouldn't be too worried about the middle name. My husband's g g grandfather had his mother's surname as a middle name. It only appears on ONE record of him and nowhere else. Its a very unusual name so we're sure it all matches up, but he just seems to have abandoned using it. Anne

My great grandmother is Annie Wilcox. Although her parents had their names spelt differently on practically every census and certificate (Wilcox, Willcox, Willcocks!), I think I have managed to find the right people. However, there is just one little point that I would really appreciate some advice on. Everywhere, she is just called 'Annie' - except on her son's birth certificate she is 'Annie Florence'; I can't find reference to this middle name anywhere else at all. If the 1871,1881,1891 and 1901 censuses, her birth certificate and parents' marriage certificates all match up, would I be safe in assuming that Annie and Annie Florence are the same person? Many thanks for any advice. Mandy :)
