I didn't require a death cert for my gr grandfather who served and lived through ww2. I just wrote them a letter and although it took about 6 weeks or so, they provided all the details and accounts of his service. I was very impressed. - Paul (Toronto)

Canadian records are not as comprehensive or available on line like the UK or US. If you give me his/her name and approx immigration period, I might be able to find something on Ancestry.

One of my ancestors emigrated to Canada and served in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force during the first world war and survived the war. I have viewed his attestation papers on Canadian archives website and would like to apply for his service records but I think this requires a death certificate. Is there any way I can find his death or order a death certificate? Is there anything similar to 1837 in Canada? thank you for your help Lucia
