There is a member of thsi site who traces family for you. She is brillant. Her name is Joan Allan. She has a partner in her searching, called Debbie Her costs are reasonable too. Just type joan allen into search. I called her about finding my dad, we had a long talk and it turns out it's impossible to trace him, as i have too little info. But i guess she'd be abel to help you, i know she has helped other son this site.

I didn't think they did. I know I contacted them for advice when I first started my search and they told me they aren't legally allowed to get involved in anything to do with adoption.

Sorry to have to tell you - the Salvation Army does not trace people who have been adopted / birth parents - I know this because I am employed by them. Norcap can help / social services. Joy

Hi Alan Adopted in 1970, I too got hold of my original birth certificate not so long ago. Like you, it had mothers name and the address at the time of the birth and nothing else. I had a look on the name search but got nothing so I did some searching on 1837 and managed to trace her marriage and thru that found the address she is now living at. It was a long process but I managed it in the end. If you need any help with anything, give me a yell. Having been thru it recently too I know how emotional it can be Good luck

If you think your mother might still be alive. Then you could try the salvation army. They do searches for lost family members and I think all they ask for is a donation. regards, Siobhan

Adopted in 1952, I have now got my original Birth Certificate, which gives my Mothers name only and her address at the time. After my birth, she moved from Averham, Notts, to where I do not know. Can anyone be kind enough to give me a clue as what to do next?
