Can somebody tell me if the name Seth is an abreviation of Septimus. I would be very grateful. Thanks. She. |

Seth is one of the oldest biblical names, the original one being a son of Adam and Eve. Septimus was the name often given to a seventh son, being derived from the Latin word for "seven". |

Just a thought - if you take the 'ven' out of seventh - you get Seth. Seth is from the Hebrew meaning 'annointed' and Septimus: Latin 'seventh' as has already been said. Magsx |

I think in every day language I would call a guy with this name "Seth". |

I had a great uncle called Septimus (yes he was the seventh son!) his name was always abbreviated to 'Sep' when people talked about him. Anne |
