Traceline is NOT available for adopted children to find birth parents. What Traceline did for us was for a fee of around £25-30 - is using their medical number or sometimes other means tell you whether someone is still alive and living in England and Wales (not sure if Scotland is included). If found they will offer (for another fee of around £25-£30) to write to them to ask if they will accept a letter from you. If the person replies then they will forward your letter on to them. If they don't reply or refuse then that's it. We were delighted that we found someone was alive though they didn't respond which was a bit heart-breaking. However we did find her by alternative means eventually and its turned out ok for them. |

Don't know if people know about this, but I am trying to track down my grandad. I have discovered TRACELINE who have all national statistics and if relatives are alive can act as intermediates for you. If relatives are deceased they will tell you where they are buried. Tel No: 0151 471 4811 Cost is £30 for 5 to 6 weeks result or £40 for 5 to 6 days. Hope this helps anyone who is looking for immediate family. All the best Deb |
