Ive got the same problem - Hansen that appears in East London as a cabinet carver. Made no headway with him at all.

Thank you everyone for the suggested sites I will give them a go and let you know if I have any success. Derek - Yep Hansen in Denmark is a bit like Smith in England! There are tonnes of them! Any other suggested sites gratefully received. Regards Maggie

Rootsweb have loads of message boards for surnames, countries, towns etc. Also the message board at Ancestry As they are international there's a chance you might be lucky, I've had a few replies.

Hello Maggie, this site can sometimes be a good start. The format has changed, but if you click the/all the headings on right one by one, you never know ! I checked Hansen, you'll be there all night. www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator/denmark/index.html Have fun, Derek in France PS just change the name of the country in url for other countries

Hi Maggie, I my grandfather was Danish so I've had a go at it but not speaking Danish it is not that easy. I first went on http://genforum(.)genealogy(.)com a great site for all different countries - selected Denmark and put a request on there. I got a reply from someone who suggested www(.)ddd(.)dda(.)dk you click on the British Flag for the English version. remove the () - good luck. Christine
