Nichola Report 8 Oct 2004 22:56

I am trying to trace my grandmothers grandparents. I know that a Dooley (possible called Annie) married a Mouncey before or around 1907, when one of their children were born. I understand that they lived in or around the Pocklington area of North Yorkshire. I have looked at freebmd with no luck. Any help appreiated. Thanks Nicky

Nichola FreeBMD doesn't have such good coverage for the 20th century yet. The marriage will probably be in the GRO indexes, which you can search for £5 minimum on 1837online. Alternatively, the GRO indexes are free to search on microfiche in various libraries/record offices, and at the Family Research Centre in London in big books. You could also try finding Doloeys & Mounceys in the Pockington area on the 1901 census. nell

Christine in Herts Report 8 Oct 2004 23:23

Hi I can't find any yet on this site, but in time they should appear: http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/ It was last updated on 3 October 2004 and is being updated fairly regularly. If the record does turn up, then it has the advantage of being from the local office and therefore one transcription less than the GRO records, which are quarterly transcriptions of the local ones. It's also set up so that, when you find the record for which you want a certificate, you have only to click on the reference-link to get a pre-completed form to apply for it - and it's at least as fast as the online GRO system.
