Hi, Elizabeth is the most likely or Eliza. As in "Good Queen Bess" Gwynne

Yes, it would be Elizabeth. I had this argument with my mother. She insisted there was no Elizabeth in her family even though I had found one in the household. It turned out she did agree there was a Bessie though.

Hi Sue. I had three Bessie's in my tree, from the same parents. Unfortunatley, two had died as infants, but my G,Grandmother was determined, so called the third one Elizabeth, but her siblings called her Bessie i am told. p.s The third one did survive. Cheers. Tony

This might not help but my "Aunt" Bessie's real name was Emily Eleanor Summers

Could have actually been named Bessie or Bess or Betsey or Bessy or Beth or any of the other forms of Elizabeth!! Maz. XX

Just to add some confusion - one of mine was Bertha but known as Bessie! Regards Barbara
