A mate of mine believes her great-grandparents, both British, met and married in the USA during a brief period as immigrants between 1895 and 1901 (they were back home with children by the time of the 1901 census). Any pointers on tracing their marriage certificate, or perhaps their first child's birth certificate, would be gratefully received. |

Darryl, all of the States Vital records department only maintain records of births and deaths from 1906 forward. Prior to that one has to visit a county archive office if there is one. Marriage records can only be obtained from the county in which the person was married. Requests can only be by mail or on site. To obtain any certificate requires providing quite a bit of specific information. You can check out more on USGENWEB site. |
