The Greenwich family records centre (Greenwich Heritage Centre to give it its posh hame) is based in Woolwich, South East London and is very difficult to get to! Have a look on greenwich(.)gov(.)uk for more info on location or phone numbers- remove brackets.

Grampa Jim That was my favourite pub when I used to live in Blackheath back in the 1950's! Jan Yes, Shooters Hill is the name of a road and is indeed between Blackheath and Charlton. I would agree with Brenda that you try to find out which Parish it was in through the North West Kent Family History Society. You can find them online from OZ. You could also join the FHS from OZ and obtain much help from them if you are heavily into the Kent area. Shooters Hill may be London Borough of Greenwich today but it is no good looking for Kent records of yesteryear in todays records at Greenwich!! In 1854 it was definitely Kent, in fact this area only came under a London Borough in the 1970's as it was still Kent when I was living there in the 1950's. I would also add that Taylor is a very common name in the UK so be very careful about Census records that are in other areas. I notice there is no date on the census that has been given to you above? There is a big Pub on the left about halfway down Shooters Hill. In the late 50s I hlped to install new Oak panelling throughout.

Shooter's Hill Road is the A2, which runs through Blackheath and Charlton, where it becomes Shooter's Hill. The area known as Shooter's Hill is in the London Borough of Greenwich. Googling brings up some interesting sites. nell

Shooters Hill is not actually a parish, but the main road beyond Welling, leading towards London. If nobody on these boards can help you, the North West Kent Family History Society may be able to suggest which parish you should be looking at. Brenda
