Pat I believe Frances is the proper name, but sometimes people just use the 'nickname' as the name in its own right. Ian |

Wonder would anyone know if the name Fanny can be a variation on other names? I have been looking for a birth of Fanny without success for ages and ages, I have searched many years on 1837online, Free BMD and now I have gone back to Family Search (LDS site) I notice there were variations coming up such as Fannie and Frances??? There is a Frances born in the same area around the same time as the person I am looking for. Does anyone think I could claim a person called Frances for her??? Any suggestions gratefully received. Pat x |
