YES!!!! I have done it !!!! I exported as ged 5.5 using Ansell but saved as all files !!!! and it worked Woooooooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooo Oh you have no idea how relieved I am :-))))))))))))))))))) <beaming> G xxxxxxxxx

I have done this .... File, Export, Other Gedcom 5.5 and then have tried both Ansel and Ansi also the UTF-8 default but it won't export. The only way it will export is in All Files format :((((

Export your PAF as an ANSEL file and it should upload easily Peter

the error message basically means the file you're uploading is either a broken gedcom, or not a gedcom at all just had a play with PAF 5, and I can't see where it says it saves a gedcom automatically. I think previous versions may have done that, but in PAF 5 the paf file isn't a gedcom, so it looks like you have to use File|Export (choose GEDCOM 5.5 format) You should end up with a file called something.ged alongside your paf file and that's the one to upload

Oh I am soooo P****d off now! I have made all dates and places match on PAF and GR for myself, I have removed my own notes and all photo's of the family....... and it STILL says the same message! As a matter of interest ..... I am the "Home Person" on PAF but the window always shows My Dad on top then my Mum underneath (Keep it clean please) and then me in the box below (I am an only child) will this affect it? Also I have my kids added to me.... will this affect it? Do I sound desperate enough yet? :~ Believe me ... I am! It could have been worse.... I only have 491 names to add manually back to GR if this doesn't work :((((

GR imports your gedcom, but only has a set number of fields. If there are more fields in the gedcom, then GR just ignores them.

Ok .... 1). There is only me in my tree on GR.... but of course on PAF there is everyone in my tree, that was the whole idea of importing it to GR because it was fully updated (much more so than on GR) ..... Is that how it should be? with just me in my tree on GR but everyone in my tree on PAF? 2). I have much more info about myself in my PAF file than on GR, the dates coincide but place of birth is in full schools etc. Do I need to take all the info about me out and only include basic dates on each which coincide exactly to make it work? Also Gedcom.... I have saved my PAF file numerous times so I think it will be saved correctly. It says it automatically saves it as a gedcom file..... am I right in thinking this? I'm sorry if seem to be asking you to spell it out but I want to absolutely sure before I try again G xxx

In your family history programme, try resaving the gedcom, as it may not have completely correctly first time.

Please Help! I have deleted my entire tree from GR as instructed but it won't allow me to upload my tree from PAF5. It has an error message which says..... Invalid Header / Trailor Records. What do I do ? :-((((( G xxx
