Outside chance Natalie, where are your Martins from? If it's Harrow, Middx I may be able to help, but it is a common surname. Good luck, Andy Day |

Freebmd has a vast number of records, is free, but not yet complete. Search on http://freebmd*.rootsweb*.com/cgi/search*.pl You can put in the name, area etc to search. remove * first. 1837online is computerised images of the original indexes, so you can't type in a name, you have to search the pages which are indexed by the first three letters only. You pay upfront, a minimum of £5. Alternatively, you can search microfiche copies of the indexes at some libraries and record offices. There's a list of them here: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ficheholders.asp#england Or the original big books at the Family Record Centre in london. happy hunting nell |

Any record office or 1837online. If you give the name and date someone might have a spare credit and look it up for you, although a fiver on 1837 is a good investment for 55 look-ups and saves having to ask for favours. Freebmd is an outside possibility, but it isn't complete and doesn't have much coverage after 1910 at the moment. |
