Hi If you're looking for places, especially in UK, but also other places in the world: http://www.*multimap.*com/ http://www.*streetmap.*co.*uk/ the name says it all! http://www.*ordnancesurvey.*co.*uk/oswebsite/Has lots of stuff (of course - incl rather nice photographic calendar "wallpaper"). If you follow the link to Get-a-map, that gets contemporary maps, and then there's an associated link from Get-a-map which calls up a 19th century map of the same area. Christine

Newsam Green, hamlet in Templenewsam township in Whitkirk parish, eastern edge of Leeds. North and South Otterington are parishes near Northallerton, nowhere near Leeds. But there's also a Newsham near South Otterington...

I have an ancestor born in Newsom Green York, (which I can't find on a modern map). I assume it's between Cawood and Leeds because that's where his siblings were born. I am hoping I have found this guy on the 1901 census but it says he was born in Otterington, (also not on a modern map). Does anyone know if these places are close by??? thanks
