Christine - Thanks for that info. It's a whole new county to start researching for this family, last seen in Gloucestershire! As I live in far S.E of England that will be a useful site, - and yes I can be patient. Karen, - I have e mailed you.Thank you. Thank you everyone for your kindness. With your help I have made more progress with this family, this week, than I have in the last 2 years.

Gwyneth Looked on 1837 for the 4 names Kathleen provided you with. George Herbert Wilford matches the marriage reference for Rosa Peak. All of the other are in the same volume and quarter but do not match the same page number. I have saved the image from 1837, if you want me to send it to you please e-mail me. With kind regards Karen

If you're feeling patient, you could wait until the Lancashire BMD site gets the Wigan stuff online (Last update was 17 Sept 04). Then, if you put in "Peak, R" you should get the specific match of names, along with the place. And when you do, you can click on their reference and get a partially completed application form to apply for the cert (by post). It's at least as quick as GRO online, and the local BMDs are one transcription less between you and the original data. www.*UKBMD.*org.*uk (remove *) and then choose "Local BMD" from the image on the left - then choose Lancashire; or you can select Lancashire from the pull-down list on the left and then click on County - and choose Lancashire BMD. Thank you for that help Kath. Now I can look to see if she is with any of them in 1901. Many thanks.

I think the only way is to send for the marriage certificate. On Ancestry the marriage reference is: Dec. Qtr, 1892, Wigan, vol. 8c, page68 There are four possibilities for the spouse: George Herbert Wilford Robert William Griffiths William Dos-Santor Thomas Brooks. Hope this helps. Kath
