Hi, I went on to the website www(.)geocities(.)com and printed off a "Family Relationships" form, it is so much easier to understand when you have it in front of you. Remember to remove the brackets. Tricia

First, second, third etc cousin depends on how many generations you both are away from the nearest grandparents that you share - so you are first cousins if you share grandparents, second cousins if you don't share grandparents but do have the same great grandparents and so on. Removed means you are of a different generation so you are first cousin once removed from your parents' cousins first cousin twice removed from your grandparents' cousins. Judith

Hi Being new to family history I would very much appreciate an exlanation of the following:- How do you get a third cousin or fourth etc... I think I understand the 'removed' - is it the 'children of', or do I have it all wrong. Thank you Mary
