Hi, I went on to the website www(.)geocities(.)com and printed off a "Family Relationships" form, it is so much easier to understand when you have it in front of you. Remember to remove the brackets. Tricia |

First, second, third etc cousin depends on how many generations you both are away from the nearest grandparents that you share - so you are first cousins if you share grandparents, second cousins if you don't share grandparents but do have the same great grandparents and so on. Removed means you are of a different generation so you are first cousin once removed from your parents' cousins first cousin twice removed from your grandparents' cousins. Judith |

Hi Being new to family history I would very much appreciate an exlanation of the following:- How do you get a third cousin or fourth etc... I think I understand the 'removed' - is it the 'children of', or do I have it all wrong. Thank you Mary |
