DORA COCKINGS BORN IN TURVEY BEDFORDSHIRE b1903c...............im trying to find out her mother and fathers names any help appciated thanks

Hi Debs, have you located her birth anywhere yet? FreeBMD, 1837? If so, you will need to send for the cert to get her parents' names. If not, let me know and I'll have a look for you. Mandy :)

She must be the Dora Cockings registered in third quarter of 1903 in Bedford ref 3b 311 (found on Free BMD). You're going to have to get hold of her birth certificate (either via 1837online or by writing to the Bedford reg. office)

I also had a quick look at the 1901 census site (without actually spending any money) and if you search on surname Cockings and Turvey as the place name you get the following hits which must surely be the same family - very likely Dora's Mum and Dad and older siblings. But you'll have to check it from her birth cert. Albert Cockings 1M Annie Cockings 34 Ethel Cockings 6 Herbert Cockings 4 Herbert Cockings 38 Platelayer On Railway Lilian Cockings 2 William Cockings 7 Lucky you that it's such an unusual name!
