Crista and Ali, this is wonderful, thanks . I had thought Marian must have died but to get this far is great. The marriage is interesting as Marians mother was a Watkins, Co-incident or cousin perhaps? I have been cursing that I have to look for Jones (and Smiths) ,I have been really struggling to get any further back and have only recently found the twins parents marriage. This site is so good, so many helpful people, think I would have given up without it, or carried on the maternal sides which have proved a little easier. Thanks to all , Jean

You are brilliant Ali, they have been driving me mad! How did you find them? I will have to get the certificates now. I may be able to find a later census for Marion, Tho' there is always the possibility that she married or died before 1881. Now know who started the twins in the family! Thankyou so much, Jean

I searched a year 1858 thru 1860 for Marian and nothing. And Alice isn't listed on 1837 as being born in March 1859. Let me look again. what area did they live in

Do you know that these girls are twins, or is it simply that they are the same age? It is possible that they are under a year apart. Have you tried looking in 1858 for Marian? Brenda

Jean Checked 1837 and there's no Marian E OR Alice K Jones in that quarter of that year. What did it say on the census? And what area are we looking in?

Thanks Alyson, I have found the birth on BMD for Alice K Jones Born March quarter 1859, But couldn't find her twin, Marian E Jones. I realise she may have died after the 1871 census but don't know why I can't find her birth. Twin Alice married in 1890 but no marriage shows up for Marian. It would be great if you could find her, Jean

Hello. Regret that my first thought is that the missing twin may have died. Check Free BMD or 1837 online. Then look at the age, could they be working elsewhere, at sea or missed the census for some other reason. Regards. Keith

Did u try entering the volume and page reference in FreeBMD to view other entries on the page? One of the twins may have been with relatives or working away from home in 1881. How old would they have been then ? Beth :)

I have found the birth of one twin in BMD but can't find the other. Both on 1871 census, but only one on 1881 census. Any suggestions where to look would be appreciated.
