Christine, when I first joined GR back in April, there was a thread about the webfamily site. People were wondering where the details came from and how you could become a member. At that time, it didn't say that they weren't taking any new members, but none of us managed to become a member! I emailed them several times and never had any response. Very dodgy site by the look of it - but have you noticed that all the deaths are in the last few years? Looks like they have someone just trawling through recent deaths at the GRO or something. Very odd! But if anyone knows differently ...... !! Mandy :)

Hi Carole Yes you can search for a name but if you want details of the person you find you have to be a member and then you get a message to say that they are not accepting new members

This site has records of 3 members of my immediate family including my mum & dad - I haven't put them there and as far as I know no-one else is researching my family - the details they have aren't even on this site...how do they get this information and if you can't search without joining and you can't join - the question has to be why??? I have put this question on the General Topics board as well and so far no-one has come forward to say that they are a member - strange or what!!!!!

I just looked a while ago, and you can search it without joining.
