In Sep 1885 at Holborn Frederick George FENTON marries Florence Selaine GLOSTER aged 20. Fred is the son of an actor ( I have his whole line verified) and Flo is the daughter of Charles Gloster silversmith. In 1891 Florence appears aged 26 born St Giles Middlesex. Living with hubby and the bairns. In 1901 Florence appears aged 35 born St Martins, Middlesex. Still with hubby and they've been at it like rabbits by now!!! I have searched the WHOLE of the GRO for 1860 to 1870 to find Florence's birth - using both Gloster and Gloucester and come up with nothing. The only St Giles births are for Edward Herbert born 1860 and Selina Ann born 1866 (the year my Florence should have been born). I ordered the birth cert for Selina Ann and her father is CHarles Gloster Coach Harness Plater, mother Janes Bates. Selina is on the 1881 census with Charles and Jane aged 16 born St Giles. Charles is a Coach (Maker) Plater - (possibly a mistrans or Harness?) born Birmingham, Warwickshire. On the 1871 Charles is a coach harness plater. born Yorkshire - and the crossed out is the word Birmingham. Other children are Edward born St giles and JOhn born Hackney. Do I have enough info here to say that for some reason Selina changed her name to Florence before marrying and that my Florence is the daughter of Charles and Jane? Secondly if Charles is my family should I start with looking in Birmingham and assume the census taker for the 1871 misheard Warwickshire as Yorkshire. Yours Zoe
