Hello! Could someone tell me if there is a record of all the people who emigrated to Australia under the "Assisted Migration Scheme" also known as the "10 pound poms"? Not having much luck from the Aussie end (yet!). Cheers, Kylie PS: I've already tried the shipslist site.

Hi Kylie, Its no easy thing to research passenger lists in Oz, there is plenty of info on convicts and early settlers, but not that much online for the 20th century. The most important thing is to know the port of arrival, as any documentation is State Government. Do you have any idea of where they disembarked or a time span? Hi Kylie Try a search on the Australian National Maritime Museum 'Welcome Wall' site. Immigrants have paid to have their names inscribed on a wall in Sydney(?) http://www(.)anmm(.)gov(.)au/ww/ww.htm remove brackets. This site has lots of info for immigration as well. Hi Kylie, I found your other thread..I must have missed it..anyway I have just spent a few hours searching websites that may help you and can't come up with anything. Put it this way..your search is too modern for being put online as your father is alive. I think that you should seriously think of getting professional help. If you can prove paternity..the Salvation Army have a Family Tracing Service..you have to do it from your end and cost is not very much..but it can take years. It wouln't hurt to telephone your area branch and have a talk to them. There is a researcher who is recommended by the Victorian Archives who specialises in tracing living relatives in Australia and New Zealand, contact is........ Mr Bruce.L.Garner. All Records of arrivals are held in the National Archives in Canberra. I was down there a few months ago and found the passenger list of my arrival in Australia in 1942, They have an email service on their website and if you can give them as much info as you can they will do a search for you. Hey watch it Kylie... I'm a 10 pound Pom... one of the last, and we even flew out!! About 2 weeks ago in our local library, I was informed of a set of CD's being released, with apparently all shipping records on them. Also items from the National Archives like people who were murdered etc, and the story from the local paper, occupations, like lists of teachers and police etc.,.. I think its being released in the very near future. My local library has it on order, I was told it goes to the present day, but I actually doubt that due to the Privacy Act. Maybe call your local Family History Library and ask them about it. It sounds too good to be true!! Saves a trip to Sydney to the Archives, which is whats on the drawing board for me.. my grans brother came out to be a policeman and was murdered, no idea of state or date.. the CD's are searchable by surname which will make it really easy, and save the 10 hour round trip to the National Archives to view the police records. Hi Karen In 1925 they would have come by ship..it was from the late 60s and 70s that people came by plane. ....Babz
