Could Ada be Annie?

I know that at the end of the day, you can be christened one thing and call yourself whatever you like. But would it be likely for someone who was christened Ada to be called Annie as a pet name? I have finally found the person who I think to be my great-grandmother; she is Annie Florence on 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses, and son's birth certificate. The only birth I can find is for Ada Florence. Everything else matches up, year and place of birth etc. Would be grateful for any advice! Many thanks, Mandy :)
