Over 3 years on.....

.and still looking for parents for Henry b. abt 1813 in Beaulieu, ....so he says on census.

I have sat for hours in Hampshire Record Office trawling through parish records of Beaulieu and surrounding parishes.
Also searched in Newport, Isle of Wight incase the family originated there..... No beginning found for Henry.

Thomas ( his father? ) died before 1851 census so I don't know his origins but wife Jane ( possibly Henry's mother) was from Beaulieu, Hampshire
On the offchance that Henry changed his name and was indeed a child of Thomas and Jane baptised in Beaulieu, I followed each child forward but they were not Henry.
...there is a gap between baptisms, where Henry would fit nicely.

And so another year begins without him.......
.
There is even a coincidence of occupations, blacksmith or similar trades.

Any ideas of how to link Henry to other Sheaths in the area would be most welcome

Hi Gwyneth Have been in Family History heaven for the past few days, doing a bit of research. Back home now and buckling down again. John Sheath was a hammerman, living at 12 North Road, Portsmouth in 1851 and 1861. His father was James Sheath, a blacksmith Brenda

I have come across SHEATHs in Surrey and a family in the Birmingham area while mostly they tend to be found from Isle of Wight and Hampshire. Can offer an Emily bapt. East Cowes 1858, or Emily Kate bapt.in Southampton 1878 so far. Do please get back to me if you find a possible link.

This is what I have on computer at home. I think there must be more kicking about in handwritten notes, but that will take a day or two. I'm not supposed to be playing as it is. Catchy title! Not on this site, but one of my Riley girls linked into a Sheath family in Portsmouth, probably 1850s. I won't be around for the next few days, but will try to dig out what I have. Brenda

If you have a SHEATH family/person anywhere in your tree, I'd love to hear from you.Perhaps we can sort out the family groups together. My interests are Beaulieu( Thomas and Jane married 1802) then some children moved to Southampton and some of their children to Portsmouth. Thomas (a blacksmith)and Jane were in Isle of Wight by 1841, where he died 1845 and Jane d.1851. I suspect he may have been born on the Island but need help. Especially need to find out if Thomas had a son Henry c. 1813 in Beaulieu?
