Just sharing a thought with you all. While searching the IoW I found reference to an individual only named as: Admiral the Marquess of Milford Haven. I assume he had a given name and a surname, but it is not mentioned. Maybe that is where some of our Brick Walls were built? Anyone found this sort of name shift in their Trees? Jim (Marquess of Mayhem and Sir of Somewhere Else)

More likely that they were listed under first name only 'cos of being in an institution. (My lot certainly don't have titles, aliases, maybe!)

Yes, the peerage are a particular problem, rarely using their REAL names! He had a famous son: Admiral of the Fleet Prince Louis of Battenberg (1854-1921), later Louis Mountbatten, 1st Marquess of Milford Haven was the father of THE Mountbatten (of Burma).
