How long before trying again?

You can ask in feedback, at the end of the page, if it could be checked that the person is still subscribed. I did that. Tried again. Still no reply. Some you lose! ... but it is frustrating! Joy

There are people out there that only check their messages once in a blue moon. I had a reply 9 months later!

if the person you are trying to contact is running certain e mail programs then there is a very good chance that your message has been sent to the Junk mail folder , which automatically empties at set times ( my is set to 5 days) .so give it about 5 days then try again. Also all people who register at the site have to give an E-mail address. some just make up a new 1 just to see the site and then never use it again............ a right pain. I contacted well over 100 people from 1 school alone and got 2 replys......

I would definitely try again about a month later - this happened to me . I contacted someone in March but got no reply and then wrote again a month later suggesting that something must have gone wrong and this time writing my e-mail address in the message. I got an immediate reply and she hadn't received the first message. We are now in frequent contact and we have been able to give each other lots of information so it would have been a great pity if I had given up on her. Of course one reason for not getting a reply (quite apart from a technical error) is that people change their e-mail addresses and forget to change it here.

I don't usually bother replying to people who don't get back to me. Eventually I delete them from my list of contacts - its their loss. The most annoying one recently was someone who put a message on the trying to find board. I immediately (the same day) sent him an email but got no response. Then I put another message on the same trying to find board just above his and STILL no response! How mad is that??? Anne

Sylvia, I don't suppose that you have a Harry/Henry Finney in your tree? He died in the late 1920's. He's very elusive. lol Pat

This has probably been asked before..but how long do you wait before trying another email to someone who doesn't reply...when you know that there is a family connection. Are you out there, descendant of George Finney of Standish, Lancs???? Or has my email disappeared into your junkmail box??? Sylvia
