Hope this doesn't sound rude, but have you tried other ways of spelling McGlead on places like BMD etc? Just a thought, and the best I could do! Mandy :)

You could ask if anyone on here has electoral roles for the area you are interested in, then you could just write to any that you think might have a connection to your family. I have written out of the blue to people who live at addresses I am interested in and have been pleasantly surprised at the response I've had. Kath

Hi Amanda Have you tried the online white pages telephone directories at http://www.infobel.com/uk/default.asp for living McGleads. You can also look at other countries. The only drawback is that you need to know the area in which people live Regards Ron

You're right, there don't seem to be too many about! There are a few McGleads on Ancestry - 5 on the 1901 census (all one family, in Alverstoke!) and a few more on the Civil Registration Index, though they would all be on FreeBMD too. It looks like only 3 have died since 1984 too! Carole

Im really stuck. I have three families of which I am the only person on the site with them. They are McGlead, Ganslandt and Ganzert. The latter two are German and there are a few places that have them, though not many. But McGlead is proving very hard. There are a few on Freebmd but not from the area I have and not my names apart from the Alverstoke area. familysearch have even fewer and putting it in google doesnt come up with anything useful. There are a few living in the country, mostly southern but if they arnt on this site would they be interested in sharing info? Does any one know any McGleads? What I know does sound interesting.
