Hi, Normally if the father's name space is left blank it means the bride or groom was illegitimate. Gwynne

It's not normal. It may not be unusual but it's not normal.

Yes, it is a full certificate and there is just a blank at the end where the boxes for fathers name and occupation should be filled in.

I have just received in the post my GG grandparents marriage certificate from 1860, and was hoping that it would show father's name for both of them. There is nothing there! Is this 'normal' for marriage certificates from that time? Sue
