Well I've written the letter and will post it first thing tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that she wants pictures of her two brothers and two sisters! Will keep you informed. Best wishes Janet (Trying desperatly to find wood to touch!!)

Thanks Carol. I hadn't thought it through properly had I? I 'spose I don't want to put her off contacting me. I forget, not everyone is interested in their tree. (After 22 years of putting up with my other half's obsession with radio and electronics/computers he has the audacity to call me an Anorak!) I will certainly offer her copies of the photos though. Thank you once again, Janet

Janet, I wouldnt include family tree stuff in the first letter. Just write a polite letter introducing yourself and how you are related. Keep it short and at the top put your address and a phone number, you never know, she may ring. By all means include a stamped addressed envelope, but state that this is for her convenience. Hope this helps a bit, but mail me if you need more help.

HELP! Thanks to Debra, I now have an address for my father's sister. However, I'm not that good at writing letters (especially to people I've only met once over 20 years ago, at his funeral.) So here's my plan. I intend to give her the family tree so far and I'm going to dangle the carrot of family photos that she may be interested in in the hope she will reply.(I'm going to include an SAE) Question is, can you think of anything else that might get her to reply? Any ideas welcome as I really don't want to screw this one up as she is possibly the only relative on my Father's side left. Thank you in advance. Janet
