i would like to know where i could search for deaths of family besides the bmd sight as ive already tried this sight without any luck, and is there a sight you can go to for information on people who might have emigrated, the people im looking for are descendants of mine from the 1830 + the reason for the questions are that they diappear from the census records at around the ages 25/40 yrs of age. hope all this makes sense to somone. regards ray

Hi Ray Besides Freebmd there is the 1837 site. They list all BMD's that were registered from the beginning of registration up to 2002 I believe. This is a pay per view site though so it is best if you have a reasonable idea of dates. Also if you are close to the area you are researching you could have a look in the parish registers - usually in the local records office or family history library. As for those who emigrated - do you know where they went? Some of mine went to America and can be found on the US 1880 census. You can find this census on the LDS (family search) site. You could also try the Ellis Island site if they went to America. Jeanette x

There was a lot of assisted emigration to Canada in the 1830s and 1840s. People I lost from parish registers and censuses turned up in Ontario. 1881 for Canada is on the LDS site and much of 1901 has been indexed and is on the web. You don't get precise birth places, but if the name is unusual you may well be able to spot them. Brenda
