Is that French Janet, (not the Janet bit) You certainly got some interesting names to conjur with. I thought my Augustus was pretty strange. |

I always go with the birth certificate. My gfather was born James Auguste Tocqueville, married James Auguste died James Augustus and on his wifes death certificate was James Arthur, however his father was Elphege Auguste Tocqueville also recorded as Alfred Tocqueville and Alphage Tocqueville. But the birth name is the given name and as most don't change their name by deedpoll I think thats the one to stick with. (Although I find that when I can't track them down they get called a lot of other names as well!!) Janet |

Carrying on from Jim`s standard surnames, how do you record people who keep changing their first names. I have one whose birth certificate states Augustus Frederick Charles, on his sons birth certificate he is Frederick Charles and on his marriage certificate he is Charles Frederick, and on his death certificate he is Augustus Frederick. |
