Jonathon, I discovered this one last night. It's easier to navigate than the Sheila Jones site. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb*com/~bewickgenealogy/census/alpha.htm Crista

Hi Top of my census Bookmarks is; http://freecen.*rootsweb.*com/ (remove *, of course) The 1851 census seems largely confined to Scotland at the moment, barring a bit of Cornwall. There are some pre-FreeCEN transcriptions (i.e. not finalised & uploaded yet) and other transcriptions online as text files which you can search using the normal page-search function of your browser. e.g. Cornwall http://freepages.*genealogy.*rootsweb.com/~kayhin/cocp.*html or Egginton, Beds http://www.*genuki.*org.*uk/big/eng/BDF/Eggington/BEDS1851.*txt Otherwise I just try Googling and have found occasional specialist (e.g. one-name or strays) sites quite useful. If there's a particular place you want I could see if I've already found any sites which might be useful. Christine

Parts of Southern Warwickshire/Gloucestershire have been transcribed by Gordon Beavington. Google his name and 1851 and it will appear. nell

Hello Jonathan. I haven't heard of this site, but I have the 1851 census for Devon, Warwick and Norfolk if that is of any help and would be happy to run a search for you. :o)

I visited this earlier this earlier this year but a hard drive failure later have no knowledge of where this is. I think it was a project undertakne by a lady and they were a series of text files saved as zip files. Incomplete but did find some people. Thanks Jonathan
