I have two census reports regarding a Lottie Pearce, one from Ancestry Com. which states Lottie Barce living with sister, Sutton Veny, Wiltshire, age 27. The 1901 Census entry from National Archives states Lottie Pearce, age 27, born Crockerton, Wiltshire, Civil Parish, Sutton Veney Entire. I am quite sure these are the same people since she was living with her sister, but why would she have two different names? Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated. Liz P.S Up to date have found no records of marriage for Lottie

Someone has had trouble reading Lottie's surname. Look at the original image on Ancestry or 1901 to see what you make of it. Brenda

Hi Patricia, Yes I did take a second look on the printed copies I had taken from Gales Ancestry Com 1901 Census (not available any more unfortunately) armed with a magnifing glass I could make out the name Pearce on the "view image" census printout, although on the normal sheet, I had printed, it definately stated Barce. Hope this makes sense! Thank you, Regards Liz

Also if it's any help, Sutton Veny and Crockerton are neighbouring villages, wouldn't like to give a distance but only a mile or two I think. Mandy :)

Hi Mandy, Thank you for the information on the villages. To Brenda and Patricia, Grateful to you both on your help, can now stop searching for Barce marriages! Regards, Liz
