Can anyone advise on web sites where I can browse and search for relatives born in mid to late 1700's. All the ones I have used thus far have been brilliant but no site goes back that far - or am I losing the plot?? |

Hi, You may have to look at parish records. Not many are on line. Gwynne |

Apart from www.familysearch.org which has the IGI (very good, although not complete) there are some local sites with local details. You could also try the Family History Society for the area you are searching. Try Googling the name of the place/county you are searching for. After that is a journey to the local archives to look at the parish registers and other documents. Very time consuming but extremely interesting. Anne |

Many thanks - I thought that would be the case! Typical ... I live on the South coast and the relatives are in Lancashire!! I know where my next holiday is going to be! |

Before you go anywhere else, try a2a, brilliant site, no bmds but a good browse should turn up something about your family. Its a pain to search, but really really worth the effort - Ive got back to 1210 with my family name. Good luck! |
