Or, as the 1901 census would put it (see my great uncle, William CHRISTMAS, age 30, born Portsea), "Lali Berth Steward". (Really, it does say that!) Christine |

I did a quick search on google and came up with - Sick Berth Chief Petty Officer I assume this was a rank in the RN medical staff Cass |

I think the CPO stands for chief Petty officer. Not sure about other two letters linda |

I have on a birth certificate the rank and profession of a father. It reads S.B.C.P.O., R.N. I guess the R.N. stands for Royal Navy. Does anyone know what these abreviations stand for? Regards Margaret |
