If you live sufficiently close to Ludham to visit, how easily can you get to Norwich? The Norfolk Record Office probably has the parish records for Ludham plus all sorts of other useful records. They have their own website and their catalogue – NORCAT - is on it. There is a similar catalogue NOAH which includes local history items and some records are on A2A. Happy hunting Brenda

Shirley if the message was on one of the Rootsweb boards you may be able to click on her name on the original message and it will bring up a list of the other postings she has done ..plus ...a sort of "faded out" email address. I have used this method to contact several people from older messages and have been successful Sylvia

Shirley - I notice that Ambrose and Ann had a daughter Annie born c.1861. Free BMD has a birth for an Annie LYDAMORE with the following details: Quarter: Dec 1860 District: Yarmouth Ref: 4b 5 If you want to find the family on the 1861 census, it might be worth sending for this certificate (via website col.statistics.gov.uk). This would give you the address at which Annie was born, which you could then look up on the 1861 census for Norfolk. A post via the GR Records Office message board might confirm whether anyone has access to this census. If not, you may need to visit the Family Records Centre (I'm not sure whether Kew hold the census but you could check before your sister's visit). Next step would be to search for Ambrose and Ann's marriage, prior to 1861, which you could also find at the FRC. It might also be worth sending for the death certificates of Ambrose's parents, in case this might help with finding the family on the 1851 census. Good luck! Sarah

hi i need help with 2 problems that i have, and wondered if anyone has any suggestions. i am quite new to this so sorry if they sre dumb questions. 1) on another site there is a message from a margaret blundell looking for my dad derek lydamore. this lady would be my dads cousin. how excited was i when i came across this!! i have written a message, but have had no reply and the e-mail address is hidden. any suggestions on finding this lady, as she is obviously looking for dad. 2)my gg grandad was ambrose lydamore born in ludham in 1829. i can find him on the 1871, 1881,1891 but i am having trouble finding him either side of this. i think his parents are james lydamore and mary harmer. i think i have found 2 sisters one named caroline also born in ludham on the igi site. lydamore is not a popular name, and so everyone on any message boards seems to be related, so i thought that if i could find any brothers and sisters then that may help, but apparently the 1851 census was destroyed/unreadable so i am stuck. my sister is going to kew in a few weeks what info would she have to go with. the family moved to great yarmouth. thanks in advance for any suggestions. shirley
