Christopher It might also be worth asking the Guards Museum whether they can can point you in the right direction. If you put "Guards Museum" into Google and hit "I'm feeling lucky" it should take you straight to their website. The Museum is at Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1. One of these fine days I'll get around to around to contacting them about my grandfather who was in the Welsh Guards!! David

Christopher 1. Give us his name and a rough idea of his date/place of birth so others may look in the census for him 2 Google "grenadier guards" 3 there are likely to be records in Kew somewhere, but you need to have more detail to find him I think. nell

my gggrandfather was a sergeant in the grenadier guards around 1900, i have been unable to find him in any census records1901 or 1881,i am serving abroad at the moment and don't get back to the uk til january has anyone any advice on how to track him down?i can go to any records office as i will be on leave where would be the best place to go? his name was mathew donovan and was born about 1869 and i think he was born in london.
