It also depends on what you are looking for. If the information is on Ancestry, then there are plenty of people who can find it for you. If you are asking about a particular census, for instance, which is not on Ancestry, then you get less replies as you'd need someone who has the CD to do the look-up.

Rita I would advise against putting your e-mail number. It will only attract a lot of spam. Sometimes you don't get a response because people don't have the answers. Sometimes other threads push it off the page before its been read. Persevere. In my experience putting "Going bonkers/tearing my hair out/Pleeeease help! and other emotional pleas get quite a lot of attention. nell

Hiya The best idea is to give as much info as poss, ie "Trying to find Tom Smith born 1800's" wont get many people responding, but "Trying to find Tom Smith born 1800's in Littlehampton" might. Karen
