Genealogy Chat

I have just upgraded to the latest version of FTM fro ver 11. It has a few new very nice features. It now does a live search on the Ancestory site for any name that you select. The new page layout is more user friendly. All-tho adding Extra details like notes and occupation and christenings and stuff is more difficult. Wayne

Me too Jan! I'm getting it for Christmas and I can't wait to get my own website set up. Guess what I'll be doing on Boxing Day lol - no more charades for me lol. Mandy :)

It will do a search for you on any individual in your list, but I think that if you want to do extensive searches you still have to subscribe to Ancestry. It does check other listings on the net too. I agree, it is not as easy to see the notes you have added to an individual. I had to ask them where they were. You have to click on the edit "pencil" and that brings up the notes tabs. I think the earlier version with a separate note icon was better to be honest. It is very easy to add photos though and you can see a whole family group in one go. Also you can transport the lot to a home page on the net and submit it to google. There is also an interne tree (gawd knows what that means). If you click on it and then right click you can find any individual and then click for that persons tree. Which I thought was pretty cool. It also works out your relationship to various individuals.

I bought mine on line at ancestry(.)com. It arrived in about 5 days from the states.

I've asked for it as a birthday present but not so sure about it now if you say some of it's harder to use!

No I dont think its harder, its just the Notes are not so easily accessible. On the old version Notes was clearly availble but on this one you have to open edit then notes.
