The man's trade is labourer but he is also in the Militia - approx the same as the present TA. Keith

hi nell my great grandfather was william sprack on the isle of wight but it was transcribed as sprake, he was living with his father jacob and brother and sister kate and john if you want to look. jenny x

Jenny If its Thomas Sutherland it says he is a labourer militiaman. I know what a labourer is, I imagine a militiaman is something to do with things military, but what a labourer militiaman is I don't know. nell

on the 1881 census my 19 year great grandfathers ocupation is a lab militiaman, can anyone toll me what this is please, thanks, jenny x
