Thanks to everyone for all your help. I will post your replies off to my great cousin in Australia. Maybe the spellings might match up. Sarah |

Sarah I dont recognize this at all. There is similar spellings with other meanings: Peritonitis inflammation of the peritoneum in the intestines. Pemphigus a skin disease would not think this is fatal? although the blisters that it causes could become infected. Pericarditis inflammation of the membrane of the heart Perityphilitis appendicitis Does it look like any of these? Pat x |

Pemphigus - Pemphigus is an autoimmune skin disorder characterized by flaccid bullae that rupture and leave erosions. It occurs in three major types: pemphigus vulgaris, paraneoplastic pemphigus and pemphigus foliaceus. - doesnt sound very pleasant does it. It was associated with a pneumonia type illness which would link in with the oedema. |

Hi One of my grandmothers brothers died at the age of 18 months, in 1910 because he fell and hit his head . A cousin of mine has just received his death certificate and had informed me the cause of death was Acute Oedemia and Acute Perriphigus. Iam not to sure if thats the correct spelling as the cert is very difficult to read. If any body could tell me what this means or what it might be i would be very greatful. Many thanks Sarah |
