In those old American Gangster movies they would often have one of these "clickers" they used to hold these small flat metal objects with a spring holding them together, when they pressed them together they would click, and they were mostly young men (teenagers). Memories of watching too many old films on TV, I was mad into Cagney, Bogart type films. Pat x

I've just found some of my ancestors on the 1881 census. The son, who is 13, has as his occupation CLICKER. What on earth is a clicker? Thanks Lisa
