My 2 x gt grandfather Thomas HORNE was actually born Thomas BAKER at Marylebone in 1842, he was adopted sometime in the 1850's by William HORNE. I am at a loss on how to locate his real parents. I have 3 certificates for Thomas Bakers born around 1842 in Marylebone but dont know if any of them relate to my Thomas. Any suggestions anyone? Many Thanks Russell

Thanks Lyla and Yvonne. In 1851 census he was listed as visitor in William Hornes household, in 1861 he is his adopted son and 1871 he has changed his name to Horne. I will have to check the Marylebone parish registers to see if they can shine any light. Thank you both for your help Russell

Hi Russell, Maybe William Horne was a relative and Thomas' mother was unmarried, so he took him in and later adopted him. Do you know what William Horne's wife's maiden name was? Cass
