marriage in 1841

How old did someone have to be to get married in 1841? Thanks for your help Jane

Hi Jane, Girls could marry at 12 and boys at 14, although they needed their parents' consent until they were 21. I think it was rather rare to see any marrying as young as that though. Sue:-)

Thanks Sue I think i will have to have another look. John would have only been 12 and i don't know how old she would have been. Back to square one Thanks again Jane
