I've just found out why this happens on some threads and not others. If I enter a very long line with no blanks, i.e. a long web address, it exceeds the page width, and then when I click on the topic, the first page is blank, and I need to scroll down to read the thread ! The first time it happened, I thought it was a software bug and sent GR an e-mail. No answer (surprise, surprise !!) and then I eventually figured it out myself !

Thanks for that Bob, I also thought there was a 'glitch' when I noticed it happen to another thread last week. However, I think I'm still in 'holiday brain' - I can see why Geoff's reply stretches the width, but your thread title has spaces in it so why does that exceed the normal width? Mandy

Hi Mandy, I started this as a normal-width thread. Any blanks between words causes a line feed, if the line then exceeds the page width, and the width remains "normal". The first person who exceeds the page width, without any blanks, (in this case Geoff, making a demonstration) causes the whole thread to be displayed "wide", all replies are "re-formatted" to the new width, and there is a blank page at the top !

Thanks Bob - so it was actually Geoff's reply that made this thread wide? All is now clear (my holiday brain must have just been in need of food lol). Mandy
